The Chair of Forming Technology in Siegen is actively shaping the transformation in manufacturing technology through three central research areas.

In Bending Technology we focus on pioneering profile and sheet metal bending processes, the use of mechanism controllers and the development of stable manufacturing processes and flexible processes.

Our commitment to Alternative tools extends to sustainable concepts such as 24-hour tools, transformer tools and wood-based tools. Through generative tool production, rapid tooling and sensory/actuator tools, we strive for progressive and environmentally conscious forming technology.

As part of Scalable Manufacturing, the focus is on networked processes, Industry 4.0, flexibility and digitalization. Our work aims to develop scalable and flexible manufacturing techniques characterized by intelligent chaining, artificial intelligence and cutting-edge digital technologies.

Our research areas jointly pursue the goal of designing sustainable, scalable and flexible forming technology and thus actively shaping the future of manufacturing technology.
